Let the summer begin!

The warm weather is officially here. Summer has started and we couldn't be happier now that we can get out on the water straight after work, and start enjoying the sunshine.

The team took a trip from Ogmore by Sea, to Southerndown, testing out our new Tahe Marine Sea Kayaks.
Tom chose the Tahe Reval Midi PE, a plastic boat that tracks well but responds quickly making it good for surfing back to the beach after a long paddle.
Gareth went for the Tahe Reval Midi. This has a similar design but is a lot lighter, meaning you can get some real speed on the flat water.

A spot of rain brought the rivers up enough to get a quick blast down the local runs, and paddlers were out in force showing what they can do.

Sometimes it's easy to forget what we've got right on our doorstep.

Springtime Surf

There's certainly been enough surf to keep us happy so far this year.

Gareth even entered himself into a couple of competitions, looking to push his skills and bring home some prizes for the team.

The Rest is Best competition was first on the list, with participants from near and far coming to Escape Watersports home turf to show what they could do.
Ride Surf Kayaks came down with their brand new fleet of shiny surf kayaks, and we definitely like the look of them!

Next was Shoreline's Blackrock competition in Bude. A little bit bigger than expected on the day, but this meant there were plenty of big moves and even bigger wipeouts as well.

But there has been some white water action as well. A couple of trips to Hurley Weir and a more recent trip to The Bitches have kept the team entertained and happy, especially since the sun has come back!

The second option is Interest Free Credit. This is just as easy as a loan, and once you have ticked off all the criteria required, you simply have to pay off your purchase over a 6 to 48 month period.

Llangorse 2014

Another year, another great competition hosted by the South Wales Kayak Anglers.

The Llangorse Lake Kayak Angling Competition offers keen fishermen a chance to hunt for the elusive Pike, along with other species like Perch and Roach that lurk in the open waters of the lake.

With plenty of prizes to be won on the day, the kayak anglers travelled from far and wide, and this fantastic turn out helped to raise £500 for the Heroes On The Water charity. A big thank you goes out to SWKA for organising the event, as well as Palm Equipment and System X for donating prizes.

And of course a huge thank you to everyone who attended, making it another cracking weekend!

The Severn Bore

This one has been on our bucket list for some time now. The Severn Bore is one of eight in the UK, and one of the biggest tidal surge waves in the world. This natural phenomenon can happen as many as 60 times a year, and surfers and kayakers travel for miles to try and ride it as long as possible.

Inevitably this party wave turns into a bit of a free for all, and trying to stay on the wave often means losing a few friends along the way, although this just adds to the spectacle and fun!
